Two Weeks Later

By Corey Nicolaides - February 23, 2013

I started writing a post with some of the details from today's baby appointment, but it seemed wrong to ignore what I’m actually thinking.

Thank You

Two weeks ago Alaina and I were standing in our tiny kitchen, in our little house, looking at the pictures and cards that disguise our 1998 off-white Whilrpool® refrigerator. Both of us feeling the nervous pain of breaking scary news to the people we care about most. The fridge, with it’s silly magnets and overworked chip-clips, serves as an unordered visual list of many of those people. With so many to inform about a complex situation I thought it best to “write” something up. I quickly threw together this blog and wrote "Baby Update" to inform everyone of the situation and to get a lot of that stuff “out there”. The kindness and love with which you’ve responded to that post has been incredible. The calls, texts, and comments have made a real difference in our lives. We’re happy to know that you’re here for us, and happy to know that you’re here for Ayla. Thank you.

Today's Appointment

It was good! Good being relative and subjective, of course. No new developments or discoveries. Alaina’s AFI (Amniotic Fluid Index) has remained stable and acceptable. Ayla is right on track in size and weight, and we’re feeling a bit more relaxed and optimistic. Things were good today, you are a part of that. Thank you.

Some Ayla Stats (as of Feb 22, 2013)

  • Gestational Age: 28 Weeks
  • Measurements: Average
  • Weight: 2 lbs, 11 oz. (Average)
  • Alaina's AFI: 29 (A little high, but acceptable)
  • Due Date: May 14, 2013

Continued Prayer

Please don’t lose sight of the delicate situation we face. We need you. Please continue praying for Ayla and for us.

That's all for now. More posts soon.
